If you have an upcoming vacation planned in Maui, you’ve probably already thought about the many activities your family will enjoy like surfing, snorkeling or maybe even taking a helicopter tour. What you might not have considered (or maybe weren’t even aware of) is a submarine tour in Maui! If you’re staying on the island’s west side in one of our Maui condo rentals, you won’t have to go far to experience the thrill of a lifetime as submarine tours depart from the Lahaina Harbor each morning and afternoon.

Imagine experiencing depths of about 100 feet without having to get wet! Submarine tours are fun, but even better they’re great for kids because it’s so educational. From colorful fish to coral formations on the sunken Carthaginian and even the occasional shark, you’ll see rays, eels, turtles and all of the beauty that lies below the water’s surface. This is an opportunity to explore marine life and get an up-close and personal glimpse of the beautiful world that exists below from the safety and comfort of a climate-controlled cabin.

Vacationing in Maui is all about fun in or on the water, gorgeous beaches and exploring all the island has to offer. Whether you plan to snorkel, explore on a mountain bike, kayak, ride a zipline, enjoy a dinner cruise, surf, or just soak up the sun and try out local cuisine, you definitely want to add a submarine tour to your list! If you schedule your vacation during the winter season, the odds are good you’ll even see a whale or two during your underwater excursion.

While there are countless places to stay from hotels to house rentals, our Maui condo rentals are the closest thing to relaxing at home – only with a much better view, considering we’re right on the Ka’anapali Beach! Our well appointed, spacious condos give you room for privacy, comfortable surroundings and even kitchenettes for those times you’d rather prepare a meal and enjoy the breathtaking views from your lanai. Aloha, and have a wonderful time in Maui!

Maui Vacations – Top Things To Do In Hana Once You Get There

hana

A lot of people who come to Maui on vacation put traveling the road to Hana at the top of their list of things to do. While our Maui condo rentals are on the west side of the island, many choose to stay on this side of the island and enjoy the four or five hours it takes to complete the journey. If you intend to take the road to Hana, you may as well enjoy exploring the city once you get there! You’ll probably want to make it a two-day trip so you can relax and not be rushed.

Here are some of the things you won’t want to miss once you are in Hana.

Snorkel at Uakea (Hana Bay). If your passion is snorkeling, this is a spot you won’t want to miss! This black sand beach not only makes snorkeling a fun adventure for beginners, there are lots of amenities that make it a great place to BBQ or enjoy a picnic with the family. A snack bar is available along with restrooms, covered pavilions, picnic facilities and more. The coastline is absolutely gorgeous, and you’ll want to take time to explore the boat harbor while you’re there. If you don’t mind crowds (this is a favorite spot of both locals and tourists, especially on weekends) Hana Bay should be on your list.

Fagan’s Cross is a great hike that offers spectacular coastal views once you reach the top! Beginning at the Hana Ranch parking lot you’ll hike a path that leads through the pastures of the incredible 14,000 acre Hana Ranch and continue on to the Pu’u (Lyon’s Hill) where the path you want to take curves to the right. The cross is a memorial to the man who initially brought cattle ranching to the east side of the island, Paul Fagan. It was built in 1960.

If you love Thai food you definitely won’t want to miss the Thai Food by Pranee restaurant! There aren’t a lot of dining options in Hana, but even if there were this would likely be your top choice. The food is incredible and the menu includes soups, vegetable and fried rice dishes, whole fish, Thai curry plates and much more made using locally sourced produce and fresh seafood. Whether you want to enjoy a picnic at the beach with your family or dine in, you’ll relish the amazing flavors offered up in this casual, family-style restaurant.

These are just a few of the things you should put on your list if you’re traveling the road to Hana – there are many others, but unless you have a week to spare it’s hard to experience it all. Enjoy your time in Hana!

If you’re planning to stay on the west side of the island, be sure to book one of our Maui condo rentals well in advance! Located on Ka’anapali Beach our accommodations are luxurious and relaxing, your home away from home – only with far more incredible views and the ocean at your front door.

vacationing in maui

July is just a month-and-a-half away, so if you plan on vacationing in Maui it’s time to secure one of our Maui condo rentals and begin scheduling other reservations! July is one of the most popular months to vacation on this gorgeous island, and it’s no surprise considering there are so many fun things to do (many that don’t cost you a dime). What’s better than fun in the sun in the middle of summer? In our opinion, nothing at all!!

Here are some of the fun and exciting things you’ll find to do on Maui in July.

Independence Day celebration in Lahaina on July 4th. With tons of festivities, live bands and magnificent fireworks over the ocean, this is an event you won’t want to miss. Many of the eateries in Lahaina also offer specials on food and drink, so grab your place on the sand and get ready for a spectacular time!

Also over the 4th of July weekend you’ll find the Makawao Rodeo and Paniolo Parade (a paniolo is a Hawaiian cowboy). This year’s rodeo takes place from July 6th to the 8th and features the Bull Bash, parade, and two rodeo show times, one on Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. The Country Knights band will be performing Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.

Maui also features Friday Night Town Parties every Friday night, each in a different town. If you’re staying in one of our condo rentals in West Maui, the Lahaina Town Party falls on the second Friday in July. These parties are super fun and feature entertainment, vendors, local food and more.

Friday Night Town Parties are free, and of course you never have to pay on any of our beaches to enjoy the water, take a swim or simply soak up some rays. Other free things to do are walk the Lahaina historic trail, enjoy a hiking trail, stroll the Ka’anapali Historical Trail or of course take a road trip including the well-known Road to Hana. If you’re eager to try out hula, free one-hour lessons are offered on Thursday evenings at the Lahaina Cannery Mall.

So much to see and do, so little time! We hope you have a fantastic vacation on our beautiful island and create memories that will last for a lifetime. Don’t forget to book one of our Maui condo rentals now if you’re planning a July vacation!
